The Tsavo parks are located towards the south of Nairobi on the main Nairobi - Mombasa highway. As a matter of fact, the highway is the boundary between the East and West Parks. It is one of Kenya's oldest and largest Parks covering approximately 40% of the total area of all of Kenya's National Parks. Elephants, Black Rhinos, Leopards, Lions, Crocodiles, Water Bucks, Kudu, Gerenuk, Zebra and the Aruba hunter's Hartebeest are resident in the Park.
The Mzima Springs found in Tsavo West have formed a large pond where Hippos and Crocodiles live. The pond is surrounded by a profusion of green palms and shady trees. It is really like an oasis in the semi - arid landscape of Tsavo West.
Tsavo East is interwoven with the spectacular beauty of the Mudanda rock and the Yatta Plateau, the world's largest lava flow! The Lugard Falls, a spectacular scene of rapids; is an ideal location for a picnic lunch. Tsavo East is lower down to the coast than the West. The entrance to the Park is from Voi town.
