In Baringo, which is towards the North of Nairobi, past Nakuru; lies the chocolate coloured Lake Baringo, which is approximately 168 square kilometres and at an altitude of 970m. Baringo is renowned for bird watching, with 458 species of birds having been recorded around the lake! Sitting at camp, one is astounded by the glamorous parade of birds – you don’t have to go our searching for species!

One has the opportunity to see hippos up close during the boat rides along with the numerous birds on the lakes; kingfishers, herons etc. We also feed the fish eagles here, giving you the opportunity to see them come down and sweep fish from the lake – a breath taking moment.

The hippos also come into the camp to graze towards evening time. Crocodiles can even be sighted in the lake, and they are often mistaken for logs floating in the water. On the shores on the lake the shy monitor lizards can be seen basking on the rocks.
