Lions, Leopards and Cheetah's
can be differentiated from their companions by counting the number of
whiskers each one has and the pattern in which they are arranged.
-
The tail of a Lioness has a
white spot, this helps in giving bearings to its Cubs when the pride
is walking through the tall brown grass of the African Savannah. The
tail of a Lion is approximately half the length of its head and body.
-
Lionesses start to breed from
the age of 3 years and can live up to 20 years.
-
Lions have very few sweat
glands, they lose heat through a process called evaporative cooling;
which is panting rapidly.
-
A fully grown Lion can weigh
up to 240 kilograms. Generally, they have a shorter lifespan than
lionesses, living up to 12 years.
